[HOME] [ABOUT US] [ACCOMMODATIONS] [DINING LOUNGE] [PHOTO GALLERY] [CONTACT US] [SPECIAL EVENTS] [THINGS TO DO] Ann Elsigan and family welcomes our friends and new guests to Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort of Batchawana Bay. Bought in 1972 by Ralph and Ann Elsigan, who immigrated to Canada from the Salzburg region of Austria, and after 12 years of owning another resort and air service, they extensively renovated and built the resort you see today. Their four daughters, Karen, Sylvia, Doris, and Robin, grew up in the tourist industry, helping in all aspects, from hammering nails, cleaning rooms, gardening, cooking, and administrating. This is truly a family business. Marriage brought son-in-laws with their individual skills. Now the grandchildren Dustyn and Nick, are getting their first job experiences working here. Sadly, Ralph Elsigan passed away in 1994 but Ann, Karen, Ben (Karen's husband), Sylvia and Armando (Sylvia's husband), are still here welcoming old and new guests and sharing our love for the Batchawana Bay area with them. We are striving to provide excellent meals and accommodations while showing off our spectacular scenery. You are invited to stay awhile and enjoy our magnificent Heritage Coastline, inland forests, crystal clear lakes, streams and waterfalls. Inhale the perfume of wild flowers, savor the tartness of berries still on the vine and listen to the cry of seagulls as they whirl and dance on overhead breezes. Laze the day away on one of the lawn chairs provided while listening to the splash of waves as they tumble over the cobblestone beach. When you are ready to explore, we'll be there to point out the local interests and attractions. At days end, dine with us on sumptuous Austrian cuisine or locally caught trout and whitefish, in our acclaimed Salzburger Hof Dining Lounge. Before settling in for the night, watch the moon rise over the purple hills and the stars fill up the dark skies overhead. If you are lucky, the distant cry of loons will float over the bay to wish you good night. Morning brings an apricot colored sunrise from your front window and the twitter of bluebirds announces another beautiful day in "God's country". Don't forget to try our delicious pancakes or French toast piled high with fresh fruit in the Club Gazebo Restaurant before heading out on another day's adventure! Ann, Karen, Sylvia, Ben, Armando and all of our staff hope to make your stay with us inviting and memorable, and that this is one of many return trips to visit with us at Lake Shore Salzburger Hof Resort. |
